FALL 2007 classes begin September 17th and 18th.  A placement test is necessary to determine a learner's class level.  Call SBLC at 410-625-4215 for a phone interview and to schedule a time to take the placement test.  Please do not bring children when you come to take the placement test.

  • Learners must be at least 17 years old, a Baltimore city resident, and have been officially withdrawn from the Baltimore City Public School system for at least six months.

  • Classes are held during day and evening hours, twice a week, 3 hours a day (6 hours a week). Individual tutoring, ABE, Pre-GED and GED classes are offered.

  • A semester is approximately 12 weeks; classes are given during the fall, spring and summer.

  • Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes and Pre-GED classes are free. Students assigned to GED classes pay a first time class fee of $60.00 for the 2-day a week class and $75 for the 5-day a week class—this includes your book. Thereafter, GED classes cost $45.00 each semester for returning students.

  • Please allow three hours for testing.
