Center Spring Appeal 1000 READ Cranes Campaign Revitalizing Education Around Dreams ![]() There's an old Japanese legend that anyone who folds one thousand paper cranes will be granted a wish. As a donor to the South Baltimore Learning Center (SBLC), your contributions help us come closer to achieving our vision: that everyone attain a high school diploma and literacy in Baltimore City in the 21st Century. That's why we're hoping that you will join us in an exciting new project at SBLC, the 1000 READ Cranes Literacy Campaign. Through your contribution, you can help make the dream of literacy a reality for hundreds of educationally disadvantaged adults in Baltimore, many of whom live in poverty or have a learning disability. With every $50 gift, one paper crane made from recycled paper, with printed words to symbolize literacy, will be folded by volunteers embracing your intention to create literacy among all of our neighbors. In this way, your gift will be honored as a symbol of hope and a fresh start for so many in need of our services. And what a wonderful community-wide effort our cranes are launching! The American Visionary Arts Museum and The Urbanite have donated their text and image rich magazines as the paper for our magical cranes. Volunteers from the Shambhala Center will fold the cranes in the meditative spirit of universal literacy, and the community-based art students from Art with a Heart will create the artwork for the literacy origami cranes. Can you envision the sight of 1000 cranes flying over Baltimore City to celebrate the gift of literacy? Imagine 1000 Cranes launched on the positive energy and effort of so many volunteers and donors, including you? E-mail us to learn more about this appeal appeal to Revitalize Education Around Dream! Or, mail your gift today to: South Baltimore Learning Center Attn: Literacy Cranes 28 East Ostend Baltimore, Maryland 21230 vcobler@southbaltimorelearns.org |
